In case you missed the big news...
Here it is. The story goes back six years, when Jenny and I felt crazy reading the vision to 22 people in our living room: “To transform Santa Cruz County by multiplying churches that help people find and follow Jesus.” It’s been amazing to see God’s provision over the past 6 years; from Del Mar School, to a skateboard shop, to being given our current building 2 years ago. God is moving! Hundreds have joined Hangouts. We’ve been packed in our 10:30 service, kids rooms, and parking lot. The best part is every week people open their lives to Jesus!
Now, as we’ve been praying about how we can expand and multiply the church, the vision has become clear. We began to ask the question, “What if we could add a second location in a different community to multiply and reach more people?” Then, the craziest thing happened. I received a phone call and we were asked to adopt New Hope Church in Scotts Valley. What does that mean? They’d like to become part of Hope and give us their building (mortgage/lease free) to launch a campus in Scotts Valley! Just when you think your dream is too big, God proves that He is able to do even more. Can you believe that God provided 2 buildings in 2 years to fulfill the vision?! These are truly amazing times. And, if I dare to say, I believe this is just the beginning!
The plan is to launch a second Hope campus in Scotts Valley with the same vision, style and pancake mix. :) We’ll be one church, in two locations. The official launch will be this Fall. I’d like to invite you to join me at one of the following launch team meetings or pre-launch services. (Location: 4001 Granite Creek Rd. in Scotts Valley)
- Wednesday, September 20th - Launch Team Meeting 6 PM
- Sunday, September 24th - Scotts Valley Campus Launch!!!
Currently many people attend Hope from the communities of the Santa Cruz mountains, but there may be others who want to be a part of this new work. It’s going to be really fun! Whether you want to help at our main campus in Soquel or join the launch team in Scotts Valley, we need your partnership more than ever. It’s going to take an investment of time, hard work, and finances. Please pray about how you can take a step of faith with us this year!
Lastly, in our region, we experience the best of California: the beach and the redwoods. How cool is it that we’ve been given buildings near both. Jesus loves Santa Cruz!
Thank you for serving, praying, and giving generously to the mission to make it possible.
Let’s give ‘em heaven!
